Bait Al Khubz Goes Digital

Layla and her brother Hamad own Bait Al Khubz, a family bakery chain with six branches in Bahrain. Customers still order by phone, and all records are kept on paper in each branch. Last year Hamad tried a simple online ordering page, but it received few orders. He told Layla: 'We are either good at technology or we are not. When something fails, it just proves we are no good at it, so let's stop.' Layla disagrees. She says the failure taught her what customers actually want, and that with effort the family can learn the skills they lack. She has already surveyed loyal customers and found that many want to order through an app. She is now estimating how large the potential market is in Bahrain, checking whether demand is strong enough, and reviewing whether the bakery's budget, staff and management skills can deliver the service. She will only go ahead if the idea passes every checkpoint she has set on risk and financial resources. Her plan also includes a loyalty app that records what each customer buys, and moving all branch records to a cloud server shared by staff and suppliers.
سؤال 1

[Topic 1 Part 1] Identify the type of mindset shown by Hamad and the type shown by Layla. Support your answer with evidence from the case.

سؤال 2

[Topic 1 Part 2] At which step of the digital opportunity process is Layla currently working on the app idea? Justify your answer using the case details, and name the evaluation technique she is applying.

سؤال 3

[Topic 1 Part 2] Layla's plan includes a loyalty app that records customer purchases and a shared cloud server for branch records. Identify the DEM business activity that each element represents and explain one benefit of each for Bait Al Khubz.
